The Academy Center of the Arts is pleased to partner again with Brett Thomas in hosting a two day Tea Bowl workshop on Friday, February 13 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday, February 14 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at the May Carter Pottery Studio.

Starting on Friday we will show and discuss different images of tea bowls.
Students will throw and alter their tea bowls, from the traditional “throwing off the hump” within the traditions of Asian aesthetic. Students will learn the different styles and seasonal tea bowl and, how they were used. We will discuss shape, style, form, decoration and different firing techniques as well.
 
Students will need two bats, and your basic wheel throwing tools.
