Wednesday Watercolor – February

Students will study still life set-ups and photographs to learn how to see the visual world in terms of color relationships, shadows, light, and quality of edges. Composition, creating light effects, volume, and atmosphere will be discussed in group critiques. Supplies are included.

Artist’s Statement : In my classes, I teach students via demonstration how to apply the medium, be it oil, watercolor or
acrylic. I teach students how to see values and colors, while at the same time learning composition. The
students will learn to make value charts and color studies to learn the nature of their paint.
I believe learning to paint and improve drawing should be a lot of fun and joy! I take beginning students
from not being able to draw or paint to being able to successfully complete a painting whether oil, acrylic,
or watercolor. My work can be seen at my website: laurareedhowell.com and I will also bring finished
work into my classes and some photos of past work that is not on my website. Learning to paint and see
the joy on student’s faces when they achieve is the most wonderful experience! I look so forward to the
