Lynchburg VA center for arts, culture, and community building
Join us for a fun and engaging 2-hour pottery class designed especially for beginners! Our focus will be on wheel throwing. We’ll kick things off with a quick demonstration to cover the basics. After that, you’ll dive right into the hands-on experience of throwing clay on the wheel. Each student will receive three pieces of clay to work with, giving you plenty of opportunities to practice and create. At the end of the class, you’ll choose your favorite pot for us to finish, glaze, and fire, included in the class fee. If you fall in love with more than one of your creations, you can keep additional pots for just $10 each. Come ready to get messy, have fun, and discover the joy of pottery!
Instructor: Anna Ellis
Anna is a Lynchburg native who has always had a passion for the arts. She studied at VCU in Richmond Virginia. However, it wasn’t until 2009 that she took a pottery class at CVCC, and fell in love with the medium. After taking what was offered at community college, she made her way down to the Academy.
Encouraged greatly by teacher May Carter she started teaching children’s classes in 2011 after several years moved on to teaching adult classes and workshops. Her work has always been inspired by her love of animals, particularly farm animals. Her work has been in the National Juried Art Exhibition at the Academy and has won awards at the Bath County Art Festival.
