Teen Comics Camp

Join local illustrator and cartoonist, Stephen Kissel, for this week-long teen camp focused on creating your own short-form comics. Students will learn the basics of comics, storytelling structure, and materials/techniques for drawing their stories. 

Each student will focus on completing a multi-page finished story that will be combined into a group anthology and printed at the end of camp.

We’ll provide the basics, but students are welcome to bring any of their own personal favorite comic-making supplies

Stephen Kissel is an illustrator and cartoonist living in Lynchburg, VA.

He enjoys creating a variety of illustrations, comics, and character design for clients and also works as an arts educator in the local community. When not making things, he might be found searching for the perfect bagel, buying too many books, or spending time with his wife and pets. He also organizes The Art Brew LYH, a local art meetup in Downtown Lynchburg and is the Academy in Motion Manager here at the Academy.
