About the Artist:
Discoveries in Cityscapes & Architecture | Lynchburg, Virginia
Mark D. Johnson is a self-taught artist with a passion for exploring the world through painting. Aspiring to be a “painter of everything,” Mark finds inspiration both in the studio and outdoors, allowing each creative journey to unfold through unexpected discoveries and new perspectives.
His work spans a variety of subjects, with a particular talent for capturing the character and complexity of cityscapes and architectural scenes. Through thoughtful detail and a keen eye for his surroundings, Mark transforms familiar places into compelling works of art.
Over the years, Mark has continued to develop his craft through independent study and workshops with nationally recognized artists, including Ken DeWaard, Patrick Lee, and Lynchburg artist Ron Boehmer. His work has earned recognition at numerous juried exhibitions throughout the Lynchburg area, where he lives with his wife, Laurel, their two sons, and three cats.
