Instructor: Arnulfo Jacinto In this camp, students will have the opportunity to express themselves through art while building upon the basic principles and foundations of painting. The class will include lecture and demonstration. While this class is perfect for beginners who are seeking to learn the fundamentals of painting, the lessons and projects will be geared toward individual skill and interest levels and is suitable for intermediate art students. Students will learn the basics of color theory, proper application of paint, and fundamentals of composition and design. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level.

Tiny Animal Kingdom

Instructor: Mariannette Oyola-Perez In this week-long art camp, instructor Mariannette, who is bilingual in English and Spanish, will teach children to use polymer clay and push their imaginations by designing and sculpting their own animal characters! This easy-to-use clay does not air dry and will harden only when baked. Students will begin by following tiny animal sculpting tutorials, followed by drawing designs for their animals and forming them out of polymer clay. Once the instructor has baked the students’ sculptures, the young artists may paint them and/or transform them into interactive keepsakes such as necklaces or keychains!

Instructor: Lindsay Patton In our class, we will take students through the process of constructing costume pieces for a production. Students can expect an overview of the basic principles of costume design for theater, film, and television, starting with an introduction on the basics of research, a tour of our very own costume shop, and beginner sewing lessons. Then we will put their knowledge into practice by making costume pieces for our summer youth camp show, Madagascar.  Each student will get to experience the art of creating visual representations of characters through clothing construction. All supplies will be included.

Join Artist Robin Wellner from North Carolina for a unique opportunity to learn in her advanced Alla Prima painting workshop! Painting portraits is challenging — but incredibly rewarding! Simplifying your palette to something you know works will give you freedom to concentrate on other aspects of the portrait. Anders Zorn’s limited palette of white, black, yellow ochre and cadmium red will give you a beautiful range of skin tones and virtually guarantee color harmony. Each morning of this three day workshop begins with instruction and a demo painted from a live model.
